Welcome! My pet portraits are painted in gouache' on cold press watercolor paper. These portraits are small and reasonably priced, so they make great gifts for the animal lover in your life.
The standard portrait is of a single pet,
4" x 6". This size is easy to frame yourself and a nice variety of frame styles are readily available from craft and hobby stores. But if you'd like a larger version, 5" x 7" paintings are available.
What is Gouache?
Gouache (/ɡuːˈɑːʃ, ɡwɑːʃ/; French: [ɡwaʃ]), body color [a], is an opaque watercolor. It is a type of watermedia paint consisting of pigment, water, a binding agent (usually dextrin or gum arabic), and sometimes additional inert material. Gouache is designed to be used with opaque methods of painting.
It's sort of a cross between watercolor and acrylic paint. I like it because it's more forgiving than watercolor and it allows me to create as much detail as I want.
